Date Machine Event
Dec 22 Ram Ram will be down to install SP3 and a security patch. Some performance tests will be run in dedicated mode also.
Nov 29 Cheetah Cheetah will be down Monday, Nov 29, 2004, for upgrades. We will be installing Service Pack 10 and a couple efixes. The downtime will be 8:30 - 5:00 and the reasons for the upgrade are a federation routing problem fix as well as a kernel bug fix.

Oct 31 to Nov 1 Phoenix Phoenix will be repartitioned Sunday morning at 8:00 am to be two 256-cpu machines. One half will be dedicated for benchmark tests. The other half will be available for user jobs. Then on Monday morning at 8:00am the machine will be reconfigured as one large image again.
October 26 Phoenix Down for maintenance. There will be no Wednesday maintenance this week.
October 20 Ram The default Intel compilers will be changed to version 8.1 from 7.1. If you use the 7.1 compilers now and do not recompile after the switch, you WILL HAVE to do a "module load intel7.1-build20040708" inside your batch scripts.
October 6 Phoenix The default Cray Open Source utilities changed to 3.6. This includes a new bash and a not-fully functional python.
September 29 Phoenix In addition to regular Wednesday downtime, the default programming environment will be changed from 5.2.0.3 to 5.2.0.5.
September 29 Ram Down from 8:00am to noon. Installing XVM patch and security patch.
September 29 Cheetah Down from 8:30am to 5:00pm for upgrades. HPS 9.
September 22 Cheetah Down from 8:30am to 5:00pm for upgrades. HPS 9. HPS was not installed, delayed.
September 22 Phoenix During the regular maintenance window, COS 3.6 will become the default. This means open36 will be loaded by default rather than open35. A not quite fully functional python and a fixed bash is part of open36. This did not happen on Sep 22, rather on Oct 6.
September 19 Phoenix Down from 9:00am to 3:00pm for regression testing of new Unicos/mp 2.5.
September 15 Cheetah Unset MP_TASK_AFFINITY=MCM as a default. Found that MP_TASK_AFFINITY=MCM and MEMORY_AFFINITY=MCM caused at least one user problem, and MP_TASK_AFFINITY is reported to not behave properly for multiple jobs on a node.
September 9 Cheetah Making MP_TASK_AFFINITY=MCM a default settings. We already have MEMORY_AFFINITY=MCM and MP_SHARED_MEMORY=YES as defaults. This should slightly improve performance for most users.
September 8 Ram Downtime from 8:00am to noon to install ProPack 3 Service Pack 1.
September 3 Phoenix Programming Environment 5.2.0.5 available (not default).
August 25 Cheetah Downtime from 8:30 am to 4:00pm. Apply MP_TASK_AFFINITY efix, apply NFS hang fix, new LAPI PTF, apply efix for switch table unload errors, and upgrade xlf to 8.1.1.6.
