Fall Creek Falls 2008 - at Montgomery Bell State Park

Delivering Science on Petascale Computers

Computing resources at the petascale offer unprecedented opportunity for scientific breakthroughs in areas critical to our Nation. Advancements in computing technology and access to these petascale computing resources bring computational modeling and simulation to bear on energy, climate change, national security, and everyday life.  Ever-changing hardware and software brings new challenges and opportunities.

The goal of the Fall Creek Falls Conference is to bring together experts from the National Center for Computational Sciences (NCCS), university partners, NCCS users, other centers, industry, and government to focus on and discuss in depth the latest advances and challenges in the computational sciences.

The 2008 conference will be held at the Montgomery Bell State Park in Burns, Tennessee. Each workshop will focus on a set of pressing issues in high-end computing, science, and engineering featuring presentations by distinguished scientists from across the Nation.  The workshop is by invitation to faculty and staff and to selected graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Graduate students and postdocs will be invited to present their work in poster format during an evening session.  The 2008 theme is delivering science on petascale computers. The Montgomery Bell State Park is located seven miles East of Dickson, Tennessee. Nashville (BNA) is the closest airport.  See:  http://www.nashintl.com/.

ATTENTION:  Poster presenters

Easels, clips, and hard backing (30” x 40”) will be provided at the conference.  Poster abstracts are to be included in abstract field of registration form.  Electronic poster files are to be sent to mccoydd@ornl.gov by email attachment or file upload no later than one week prior to the conference (August 30, 2008).  Extended abstracts, poster files, and presentations will be captured on a memory stick during each session to be linked to the website.
